Registration and Cancellation policy:

Registration is a first come first serve basis, therefore early registration is recommended. If registration is cancelled 14 days prior to the course date by the participants, a full refund will be issued. No refund will be issued if registration is canceled by participant within one week prior to the course. If Innovative Rehab Solutions, cancels the course a full refund will be issued. No refund will be issued if the course is in progress and is interrupted by an Act of War, Act of God or circumstances beyond our control. Innovative Rehab Solutions will not be responsible for any participant expenses other than a course tuition refund for course cancellation. Innovative Rehab Solu tions reserves the right to change speaker/course title under unavoidable circumstances.

Treating the client with adult hemiparesis using neurodevelopmental techniques (NDT)

Course Objectives:

  • Describe the various possibilities that exist in early intervention for facilitating more normal movement in basic functional activities and for preventing secondary impairements.
  • Utilize normal components of movement when assisting patients moving in bed, during transfers and early sitting/standing activities.
  • Relate the abnormal movement tendencies of a patient to major treatment goals.
  • Speaker:

    Nicki Schmidt, PT, received her bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1978. She is NDT trained in both pediatrics and adult hemiplegia and has been an active NDTA, Inc. coordinator-instructor since 1985. She has taught NDTA introductory, basic in canada for nearly 20 years. During her 25 years of clinical practice she has worked as a clinical neuro specialist in a broad spectrum of healthcare settings including acute care hospitals short term rehabilitation, out patient rehab clinics, home health and private pactice. She was an associate clinical professor at LSU Medical center in the 1980's, is a member of NDTA curriculum commitee and past board member and instructor group chair of NDTA. currently Ms. Schmidt is in private practice in the NewOrleans area where she specialisation in consultation for and treatment of adult and pediatrics clients with diagnoses of stroke , brain injury and cerebral palsy.
